FAQs
1) Can I buy the book by check?
Yes. Please print off, fill out and send in the ‘mail in’ order form. Click here.
2) How does the 2008 Edition differ from the 2007 Edition?
All of the information in the 2008 Edition was reverified to be gluten-free. In addition we have added over 5,000 new gluten-free products, including three major supermarket brands: Wal-Mart, Publix and Kroger.
3) Does the 2008 Edition include over-the-counter medications?
Yes. The 2008 Edition has over 1,500 over-the-counter (OTC) pharmacy products listed.
4) How do you determine that the products in your book are “gluten-free”?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed to define the term "gluten-free" as < 20 parts per million (ppm) gluten. This regulation is scheduled to be issued by August of 2008. Some food manufacturers have already begun testing their products for the presence of gluten. Those products that have not passed the test of < 20 ppm have been excluded from this book. Currently not all companies test their products, therefore, we cannot guarantee that all the products listed in our book are < 20 ppm gluten. Those products that have been manufactured in the same facility as gluten, but indicate that they thoroughly wash their lines between products have been included. We have tried our best not to include products from manufacturers that do not take measures to prevent cross-contamination.
5) What if I don’t see a product in the 2008 Edition that was in your 2007 Edition? Does this mean that it is no longer gluten-free?
If you do not see a product listed in our 2008 Edition, that was listed in our 2007 Edition it may be due to a number of reasons. Either:
• The product is no longer gluten-free
• The product did not pass the <20 ppm gluten test
• The manufacturer does not take measures to prevent cross-contamination in the facility
• The manufacturer was unwilling to give us updated information
